Map of Dover

A person who has been duly appointed as a resident of an almshouse charity is a beneficiary of the charity, not a tenant. This means that he or she has no legal interest in the almshouse accomodation which has been allocated to him or her, but occupies it simply with the permission of the trustees. Residents are responsible for their own council tax, utility bills and contents insurance.
